Infrastructure Bill Promises Sustainability Project Funding Opportunities in 2022

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was signed into law on November 15th, with nearly $60 billion allocated to government offices focusing on clean energy initiatives.  While the bill’s focus on infrastructure naturally dedicates much of this money to physical projects, the bill also contains significant portions of clean energy research and demonstration programs funding. The coming year is likely to bring significant government funding for clean energy research projects, particularly those related to carbon capture, clean hydrogen, and renewable energy, so researchers in these areas may be well-positioned for proposals in the new year.  The breakdown graphic is courtesy of the American Institute of Physics, and a larger discussion of funding breakdowns can be found here.
