Jian Cao to Chair Workshop on Impacts of Smart Manufacturing Development
As part of a larger study exploring potential national-level plans for smart manufacturing technology, the National Academies will be hosting a series of workshops over the coming months to solicit feedback in certain critical areas. The third and final session, focusing on the broader impacts of these potential plans, will be chaired by Jian Cao, and held on March 7th and 8th. Workshop participants will explore a wide range of impacts, including optimization, efficiency, decarbonization, improved U.S. competitiveness and supply chain resilience, opportunities to integrate product and process lifecycle, resource (energy, material, and water) productivity, and quicker development, deployment, and adoption of smart manufacturing technologies and processes.
