Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation

To mitigate and adapt to climate change, it is important to develop and refine climate models that predict climate-change-driven effects on agriculture, flooding, sea level rise, air quality, and other environmental factors.  To reduce the emissions and CO2 levels that fuel climate change, technology development and deployment must span a wide range of technologies including, for example, carbon capture and sequestration or utilization, microgrids, energy storage, combining chemical and biological systems for carbon capture, high-performance cooling materials, energy-efficient distributed technologies, vehicle electrification, energy-efficient separations, and biofuels and bioproducts produced from sustainable feedstocks.  Consumer, government, and corporate decisions play a critical role in mitigation and adaptation technology adoption and therefore should be incorporated into technology development.
